Our Story

How a family auto repair shop in Colorado Springs sparked a movement

Where It All Began

In 1999, Adam & Son Auto Repair opened its doors in Colorado Springs with a simple belief: running a successful business and serving the community aren't mutually exclusive.

When customers couldn't afford critical repairs, we didn't just turn them away—we found ways to help. Over time, this commitment evolved into something bigger. We realized that auto repair shops across the country were already doing meaningful, positive work in their local communities. They just needed to be connected.

That realization led to the creation of AiN (Automotive Impact Network)—a network designed to unify these efforts, amplify their impact, and demonstrate the powerful role the automotive industry can play in addressing real-world challenges.

The Problem: Transportation Insecurity

For many people, a reliable vehicle is the difference between maintaining employment, accessing healthcare, caring for family members, or becoming further destabilized. When transportation fails, everything else is at risk.

Transportation is foundational. It connects people to employment, healthcare, education, childcare, food, and community. Without reliable transportation, it's nearly impossible to access essential services.

The Solution: Industry Leadership

We believe the automotive repair industry is uniquely positioned to lead the solution to transportation insecurity.

Auto repair professionals have the technical expertise, infrastructure, and firsthand understanding of how vehicle failure impacts daily life. More importantly, the industry has a long history of generosity, community involvement, and problem-solving.

The automotive industry shouldn't just be part of the conversation—it should be at the forefront of the effort to address transportation insecurity.

Beyond Auto Repair

Since its inception, AiN has grown far beyond its original scope.

What began as a social impact network focused on auto repair shops and the Stranded Motorist Fund has evolved into a broader community resource. Today, AiN supports businesses, nonprofits, and individuals by creating collaborative pathways for impact, sustainability, and mutual support.

Through partnerships, technology, and shared values, AiN continues to expand its mission—connecting people and organizations who believe that doing good and doing business well can, and should, go hand in hand.

The Founding Business

Adam & Son Auto Repair has been serving Colorado Springs since 1999, pioneering the social impact model that inspired everything AiN has become.
